Risk of overnight severe weather across Alabama [March 4]

Strong storms are expected to arrive in Alabama by late Tuesday afternoon (March 4) with the National Weather Service putting most of the state in a slight (2/5) or moderate (3/5) risk of severe weather.
We’ve already had a round of tornadoes impact areas of the state earlier this year and there is a possibility more could be on the way. But it’s not just tornadoes that could cause impacts this week as much of the state is facing a wind advisory as well.

National Weather Service
Meteorologists have said the line of storms is moving fast across the south Tuesday morning. Strong rain and winds could arrive in our state as early as 4PM.
The NWS says the area with the highest risk of severe weather is in the southern third of the state including places like:
- Mobile
- Gulf Shores
- Andalusia
- Greenville
- Troy
- Montgomery
- Selma
The rest of central Alabama is considered to have a 2/5 risk of severe weather with some areas of north Alabama having a 1/5 risk.
The wind advisory is in effect for nearly the entire state with sustained winds expected to be around 30 mph and wind gusts of 50 mph or more.
