Saraland breaks ground on new $72M, 100-acre sportsplex

If you like playing a sport competitively or even just casually, there’s a pretty good chance the new athletic facility in Saraland will be able to accommodate you.

This week marked the groundbreaking for the Land at Saraland sportsplex project that will surely bring crowds from around the state and the region for future sporting events. There are big plans for the outdoor sports alone including:

  • Biking/walking trails
  • 5 multipurpose fields
  • 8 baseball/softball diamonds
  • 3 tennis courts
  • 3 beach volleyball courts
  • 6 pickleball courts

The project will also have a 78,000 square-foot indoor facility that athletes can use no matter the weather. It will include:

  • 4 basketball courts
  • 8 volleyball courts
  • 12 pickleball courts
  • Walking track
  • Workout facility
  • Rock climbing wall
  • 2 conference rooms
  • Concessions

When will it be ready?

Construction at the site began last month and with the official groundbreaking ceremony in the books, excitement in the area is only growing and now it’s all about how long the construction phase will last.

According to The Land at Saraland website, outdoor facilities are expected to be available to use by Fall 2024. The indoor facility is expected to be ready next Spring.

Where will the sportsplex be?

The project is beginning just off Celeste Road in north Saraland behind the city’s Fire Station 3. You will likely be seeing plenty of construction in the area over the next year.
