DeBoer’s Debut
Next week will mark the first—of what Bama fans hope is many—SEC Media Days for new coach Kalen DeBoer. It will certainly be a new level of frenzy for the coach from his preseason days at Washington but he’s surely gotten used to the attention in the six months since getting to Tuscaloosa.
DeBoer will bring a trio of players with him including:
- Jalen Milroe, QB, Junior
- Tyler Booker, OL, Junior
- Malachi Moore, DB, Graduate Student
Alabama is slated to hit the Wednesday, a day that is surely to draw a big crowd with Florida, Mississippi State and newcomer Texas. The exact times for each team has not yet been announced.
Auburn wraps up the week
The Tigers will be a part of the final day in Dallas, joining Arkansas, Kentucky and Texas A&M. Hugh Freeze is no stranger to SEC Media Days, attending one as the Auburn coach and five as the Ole Miss coach.
Many of the questions Freeze will face are expected to be about his offense including his quarterback, Payton Thorne, who will also be in attendance. The complete list of Auburn players scheduled to make the trip includes:
- Payton Thorne, QB, Senior
- Eugene Asante, LB, Senior
- Keldric Faulk, DE, Sophomore
Freeze may be facing a bit of extra pressure this season as Auburn is coming off its third consecutive losing season for the first time since 1950. The Tigers have also now gone five seasons without a bowl win, its longest drought since 1995.
2024 SEC Media Days schedule
This year marks a lot of new changes for the conference, most notably the additions of Texas and Oklahoma. This year will also see the conference’s Saturday afternoon showcase to ABC instead of CBS.
So this will likely be the busiest SEC Media Days yet. Check out the complete schedule + see which players will be in attendance for each team.
Before the week wraps up, the media will release its preseason picks for the standings and individual awards.
