Small Biz Monday: 3 things you’ll love about Satori Coffee House in Mobile

Hello and welcome to another small business Monday here at The Bama Buzz. This week, we’ll be talking about Satori Coffee House in Mobile, a University of South Alabama student favorite. Keep reading to find out everything that makes this little coffee shop so special.

1. Location & ambiance

Who doesn’t love to sip on a latte while they work? Satori Coffee House is right on the edge of South Alabama’s campus, making it a wonderful choice for some off-campus studying. It’s also relatively close to Spring Hill College, so you’ll find all sorts of students hard-at-work inside Satori.

There’s free Wi-Fi, comfy couches, cute curtains, and an all around great vibe inside. There are all sorts of local art lining the walls, in the way that you discover a cool new piece of art every time you visit. In my opinion, as a student, this is the best place to get work done. I’ll often camp out here for hours on end to cram for exams or, say, write an article.

More of a work-outside type? Worry not, Satori Coffee House has a host of outdoor seating, whether that be on the front porch or the little side courtyard area.

2. Special events

Would it even be an indie coffee shop if there weren’t indie, local bands playing every weekend or so? Satori Coffee House is one of the best places around to find underground music, see some slam poetry, and even show off your own skills.

This week, on Sunday, there will be a Monster Mash Pizza Party which is totally worth checking out. There’s also a Jazz Club which will meet this Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.

Keep an eye on their events calendar, there’s often an open mic night where you can be a performer for night! Satori also serves alcohol at these after-hours events, just to spice it up a bit.

3. The coffee & food

Satori has a huge coffee, tea, and even alcohol menu. They have excellent espresso too, so I usually opt for an iced with oak milk, no flavor needed. If you do like some flavor to your coffee, try out a white mocha. It’s a classic for a reason! Baristas at Satori are really friendly and patient, always willing to help you find what exactly what you’re looking for.

On top of all the amazing coffee, they’ve got a great menu for food too. Breakfast burritos, bagels, and freshly made pizzas pack the small but mighty food selection at Satori, all delicious. If you’re there at breakfast, check out the BLT croissant, which has all your usual BLT ingredients topped with a roasted garlic aioli that is absolutely delicious. Otherwise, I recommend the Vennegnator pizza, topped with roasted garlic, mushrooms, spinach, artichokes, roasted peppers, caramelized onions, and, of course, cheese.
