South Alabama breaks ground on new $10M band facility

The University of South Alabama has officially broken ground on a new 25,000-square-foot, $10-million home for the Jaguar Marching Band.

The indoor and outdoor complex is scheduled for completion in January 2026. The facility will include:

  • Full ensemble rehearsal hall
  • Drumline rehearsal studio
  • Color guard rehearsal studio
  • Dressing rooms
  • Offices
  • Music library
  • Storage space for uniforms, instruments, props and gear.
  • Full-size lighted practice field

Funding includes $5.9 million from the state, along with commitments from the Jaguar Marching Band and community donations.

Jaguar Marching Band

The university created the marching band in 2009 and has since expanded to 250 members. The new facility will be able to accommodate up to 350 band members in the future.

The Jaguar Marching Band performs at a wide variety of events on campus, in the Mobile community and throughout the Gulf Coast region.
