Alabama is home to some of the best restaurants, museums and more. Lifestyle magazine, Southern Living, thinks it is home to some of the best college towns in the South—Tuscaloosa and Auburn. Keep reading to find out where these two cities ranked and why.
Auburn
The city of Auburn is mostly known for Auburn University and its fearless Tigers football team—the 2022 SEC Champions.
According to Southern Living, it ranked third on their best college towns in the South list. The magazine ranked “the loveliest village on the Plains” highly because of its burgeoning food scene that ranges from slow-smoked brisket to steamed bao buns.
They also gave a shoutout to two popular Auburn restaurants—Bow & Arrow and The Irritable Bao.
Tuscaloosa
Roll Tide! Southern Living also ranked Tuscaloosa on their list—seventh, to be exact.
This busy, buzzy city seems to be a favorite for various reasons. According to Southern Living, the city’s lively atmosphere during the fall football season is one that they are a fan of. Here’s what they had to say:
“Forget saying hello… the only pleasantry you’ll need to know here is “Roll Tide.” With 18 national college football championships to the University of Alabama’s credit, it’s hardly surprising that the town roars to life on Saturdays in the fall when fans descend on Bryant Denny Stadium.”
