Travel + Leisure Co. and Sports Illustrated Resorts announced today they are building their first college town resort in Tuscaloosa, home of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Location of the Sports Illustrated Resort

The first development of its kind in the U.S., the resort will be in T-town situated on about 40 acres across from the Black Warrior River at 105 Rice Mine Road.

The resort will have the following amenities:

  • Full-service hotel
  • Vacation ownership club
  • SI Fit Health/Wellness Center
  • World class dining
  • Year round entertainment and “field of dreams” experiences

“Tuscaloosa was named one of the Top 25 college towns by Travel + Leisure magazine, and the University of Alabama has had more Sports Illustrated covers than any other university. It was the natural place to start this new network of sports-themed resorts. This totally new hospitality concept will be a home run with fans who want to be immersed in game day culture.”

Geoff Richards, chief operating officer at Travel + Leisure Co
