Survey: University of Alabama 4th best party school in US

The University of Alabama is officially one of the top party schools in the nation.
The school came fourth in Niche’s annual rankings, behind only UC Santa Barbara, Florida State University and Tulane University.
What is the Niche ranking?

Niche is an online organization aimed at connecting people with the best schools and neighborhoods for them. From K-12 through grad school, Niche provides in-depth profiles on every school and college in the United States.
Every year, Niche releases college rankings across a number of categories. The results are based on “rigorous analysis of key statistics and millions of student and alumni reviews” according to their website.
The Top Party Schools list combines student reviews and nightlife statistics. It is meant to highlight schools with “vibrant and diverse party scenes” that offer fun experiences both on and off campus. The top ranked schools are all described as fun, friendly and into partying by current and former students.

University of Alabama

The University of Alabama is not just the oldest public university in the state, it’s also the largest. It has seen record growth numbers in the past two decades, going from 19,318 students in 2000 to surpassing 40,000 for the first time this academic year.
Students come from all over the country and the world to attend the Tuscaloosa school. Only one third are Alabama natives, representing all 67 counties of the Yellowhammer state. All 50 US States and the District of Columbia are represented on campus, with students from 95 foreign countries also enrolled.
The University of Alabama is best known for its football team. The Crimson Tide boast 18 national championships and 467 NFL draft picks. Sports Illustrated and ESPN both named them the greatest college football program in US history.
Party scene

The University of Alabama’s party scene is led by its vast greek life. The school has been recognized as the largest fraternity and sorority community in the country since 2011, with 71 different organizations to choose from.
According to Niche, over a quarter of male students (27%) and nearly half of all female students (42%) are members of a fraternity or sorority at Alabama. That amounts to roughly 13,000 students.
In addition to its greek life, the university also has ample partying centered around its football team. The Crimson Tide home games always feature large tailgating events, and the team’s countless successes have led to many celebrations throughout the years.
