ESPN Bracketology

As of March 10, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi still has Auburn as the No. 1 overall seed. But the bracketology expert also said the Tigers’ margin for error is much smaller after losing the final two games of the regular season.
Either way, Auburn seems secure as one of the four No. 1 seeds in the big dance.
Meanwhile, Alabama sits as a No. 2 seed, likely needing a run in Nashville to make the jump to the top-seed line.
Lunardi will be adjusting his bracketology daily throughout championship week so keep an eye on the latest projections as games continue.
SEC Postseason Awards
To no one’s surprise, Auburn was all over the postseason awards list voted on by the SEC coaches.
Johni Broome becomes the third player in program history to be named the SEC Player of the Year, joining Charles Barkley and Chris Porter. Broome was also named to the first-team All-SEC for the second straight season.
Bruce Pearl was named the SEC Coach of the Year. Other accolades for the Tigers included:
- Chad Baker-Mazara, third-team All-SEC
- Denver Jones, All-Defense
- Tahaad Pettiford, All-Freshman
Alabama was represented by a pair of backcourt players.
Mark Sears was named to first-team All-SEC for the second straight season. He earned All-SEC selection in all three seasons with the Crimson Tide.
Former high school Mr. Basketball winner Labaron Philon was named to the All-Freshman team in his first season in Tuscaloosa.
