The historic Tuskegee-Morehouse Classic, the oldest HBCU football rivalry dating back to the early 1900s, will take place at the iconic Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.

Previously held in Columbus, Georgia, this move marks a new chapter for the celebrated rivalry between Morehouse College and Tuskegee University.

“Montgomery is proud to welcome the Tuskegee-Morehouse Classic to the historic Cramton Bowl in 2025. This iconic rivalry not only showcases the excellence of HBCU athletics but also celebrates the profound cultural and historical contributions of Morehouse College and Tuskegee University. Our city, a cornerstone of the civil rights movement, is the perfect backdrop for this cherished tradition. We look forward to hosting the student-athletes, alumni, and fans for a weekend of unity, pride, and unforgettable moments that will resonate for years to come.”

Steven Reed, Montgomery mayor

The Tuskegee-Morehouse Classic at Cramton Bowl will serve as a cornerstone event for Montgomery, highlighting the city’s commitment to honoring HBCU traditions while fostering community engagement and economic impact.

Tuskegee-Morehouse Classic

While the first meeting between the two teams happened in the early 1900s, it has played every year except 2020 at a neutral site since 1936.

Tuskegee leads the all-time series, earning its 75th win over Morehouse with a 42-0 win last season. The pair of Tiger teams have met 112 total times on the football field.

This year’s game is scheduled for Oct. 4. Additional details, including ticketing information and event schedules, will be announced in the coming months.

“Having the opportunity to continue the legacy and rich history and tradition will make it possible for our Administration, students, fans, and alumni to enjoy all that this Classic has to offer. We are grateful and we look forward to another awesome Classic weekend in October against Morehouse College in the Capital City of Montgomery, Alabama.”

Reginald Ruffin, Athletic Director at Tuskegee University

The city says the game’s relocation underscores Montgomery’s rich civil rights history and vibrant HBCU alumni presence, making it a fitting stage for this storied tradition.

Fans, alumni, students, and community members can look forward to a dynamic weekend filled with athletic competition, spirited performances by both schools’ renowned marching bands, and events celebrating the legacy of these two prestigious institutions.
