This past week, 11 new building permits were issued statewide for million-dollar-plus construction projects. Collectively, these permits totaled more than $100 million, with two projects from The University of Alabama system leading the way.

The priciest of these is a $43 million permit for a new student facility at The University of Alabama. Here’s more:

What to know about the Student Well-Being Hub at UA

The new facility on the UA campus, located on Kilgore Drive, is a $63 million project that includes a 57,809-square-foot building. A $43 million building permit was issued this past week for the largest phase of the project. Here’s more info:

The facility is a one-story building with a walkout basement for mechanical and service support space.
The main level will serve as offices for multiple divisions of Student Life Resources, including the Counseling Center, Collegiate Recovery and Intervention Services, Health Promotion and Wellness and the Women and Gender Resource Center.
The project architect is Williams Blackstock Architects.
WAR Construction is the lead contractor.
The estimated completion goal is September 2026.
