University of North Alabama’s (UNA) The Marching Pride is going to the Big Apple.

The award-winning marching band from the Shoals has been chosen to perform in the 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

It will be UNA’s first appearance in the prestigious parade known for its giant balloons, floats and superstar performers.

“It is an incredible honor to be selected to represent both the State of Alabama and the University of North Alabama in the Macy’s 2025 Thanksgiving Day Parade. Performing in this iconic event places UNA on a national stage, and it will be a proud moment for our university, our band, and our community.”

UNA The Marching Pride’s 75th anniversary

The 2025 version of the Macy’s Parade will be its 99th edition. Only nine marching bands from across the U.S. received invites.

The Macy’s Parade announcement comes on the heels of this year’s special homecoming celebration honoring The Marching Pride’s 75th anniversary and induction of its first members into the band’s hall of fame.

Current band director Lloyd Jones and his father, the late Ed Jones, have also led The Marching Pride band for most of the past 75 years.
