Legendary Service Award + universities that will honor military heroes

Alabama military heroes, there’s an award for you. The University of Alabama Online is looking for military heroes within the community to honor with their new Legendary Service Award.

What is the Legendary Service Award?

The Legendary Service Award seeks to honor a past or current military service member who has made an impact within the Alabama community. As a Military Friendly School, the university hopes the award will give back to someone who has given back so much to the nation and the Roll Tide community.

Nominate a military service member

Alabamians are encouraged to let the university know of any military service members worthy of the award. The winner will be selected based on:

• Commitment to charitable endeavors
• Excellence in performance
• Overcoming adversity

The service member is not the only one receiving a lot from UA Online. The honoree and nominator will receive:

• Tuition grant for three 3-hour UA Online courses
• Two tickets each to the November 13 New Mexico State home football game
• On-the-field recognition during a ceremony held at the game
• Hotel accommodations for the weekend

The deadline for the online application is October 3. Make sure you let UA Online know if you know of a service member who deserves recognition. 

The many military friendly universities of Alabama

While University of Alabama Online is the only university with the Legendary Service Award, there are many other Alabama universities that are recognized as military friendly. This means that the universities have a community and give effort to help military members have success. Some of these universities are:

• Faulkner University
• Northeast Alabama Community College
• Stillman College
• University of Alabama
• University of Alabama in Huntsville
• University of Mobile
• Wallace State Community College

The Alabama community should be proud of all of its universities that go above and beyond for our military service members.
