Reading time: 2 minutes

Sheila the Kangaroo was the star of the show in Macon County on Tuesday.
The marsupial was a confusing sight for drivers in Alabama, shutting down multiple lanes of the road as it traveled along Interstate 85. It was involved with a small collision with a car, an incident caught on camera + it was eventually tracked down by its owner before returning home safely.

Much of the chase was recorded by Macon County Sheriff Andre Brunson who took to Facebook Live to share his own experience.
According to the Associated Press, the owner used a dart to tranquilize the animal. Brunson’s video shows the moment where the drugged kangaroo is taken back to its owner.
The animal’s owner, Patrick Starr, told The Associated Press that the animal’s name is Sheila and that she escaped from her enclosure.
“She’s back home safe. She’s up. She’s not sedated anymore. She’s eating. She’s drinking. She’s not injured.”

The kangaroo was treated by the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. The AP says the Starr family runs a pumpkin patch and petting zoo, but Starr said Sheila is just a personal pet.
