For the second straight year! (The Bama Buzz)

What better way to celebrate National Beer Day than announcing your choice for best craft beer in Alabama!

After the Cahaba Blonde breezed through the 2024 Bama Beer Bracket, we decided to try to make things a big more challenging this year.

We expanded the bracket, adding 49 new beers to the mix, but Alabama once again made its choice. Here was Cahaba Blonde’s run to a championship with the percentage of vote they got for each matchup:

  • First round: Brock’s Gap Lager – 88%
  • Second round: Druid City Moonlighter – 83%
  • Sweet 16: Alabama Light Lager – 70%
  • Elite 8: Avondale Sour Pash – 73%
  • Final 4: Good People El Gordo – 79%
  • Championship: TrimTab Paradise Now – 68%

The Blonde was also the top vote getter through our Instagram stories polls in every round. (Hint to other breweries: it helped that Cahaba shared the polls every round!)

Each round, we posted the matchups to our Instagram stories—make sure to follow us if you don’t already—and we received over 10,000 votes across the 63 beer matchups.

While the Cahaba Blonde made things look easy in their matchups, we had several come down to the wire. Some of the closest votes included:

  • First round: Braided River Hoppy by Nature over Uproot Vernal IPA (50.1%)
  • Second round: Birmingham District Razzle Dazzle over Braided River Hoppy by Nature (50.5%)
  • Sweet 16: Avondale Sour Pash over Good People Coffee Oatmeal (51%)
  • Elite 8: Good People Snakehandler over Goat Island Blood Orange Berliner Weisse (51%)

While the championship matchup was a rematch from last year’s bracket, there were plenty of underdogs and newcomers that made some noise throughout the tournament. Some of the biggest “cinderella” beers of the bracket included:

  • 4-seed Good People El Gordo—Final 4
  • 7-seed Birmingham District Razzle Dazzle—Elite 8
  • 12-seed Alabama Light Lager—Sweet 16
  • 12-seed Back Forty Helen’s Haze—Sweet 16
  • 11-seed Singin’ River The Swamper—Sweet 16
  • 9-seed Avondale Spring Street Saison—Sweet 16

While a champion had to be crowned, we could celebrate National Beer Day with any of these 64 Alabama beers.

But now, we have our eyes on the 2026 bracket and we want to hear from you on how to make it better!

Do you like the IG stories voting? What beers did we miss in this year’s tournament? Who can dethrone the Cahaba Blonde?
