Which in-state player has the best odds to win the 2025 Heisman Trophy?
Reading time: 2 minutes

Last season marked the first time since 2012 there was no player from Alabama or Auburn in the top 10 of the final Heisman voting. And it was just the second time since 2008.
Auburn has three Heisman winners in its program history and although Alabama didn’t win one until 2009, the Tide now has four winners.
Which names are most likely to join the prestigious group at the end of this season?
Let’s dive into the odds from FanDuel to see which names you should keep an eye on in 2025. Some of the numbers might surprise you…
Heisman Trophy odds
Just hours after Ty Simpson was reportedly named the starting quarterback for Alabama, he jumped to fifth in Heisman odds at 16-to-1. The only players ahead of Simpson are:
- Texas QB Arch Manning | 15-to-2
- Clemson QB Cade Klubnik | 9-to-1
- LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier | 9-to-1
- Ohio State WR Jeremiah Smith | 12-to-1
Meanwhile, the hype for Ryan Williams‘ second season seems to be slowing down just a bit as he’s now tied for 20th on the list, coming in at 40-to-1 odds to win the trophy.
After having four winners in a 13-year span including back-to-back winners in 2020 and 2021, Alabama has not had a top-5 finisher in the last three seasons.
The Crimson Tide has 10 players who finished in the top 10 of Heisman voting since 2018.

Meanwhile, Auburn starting quarterback Jackson Arnold is garnering some attention of his own as the Tigers hope his flashes of greatness during his time at Oklahoma become more consistent on The Plains.
Arnold is tied for 12th on FanDuel, listed with 25-to-1 odds to become Auburn’s first Heisman winner since Cam Newton in 2010. His likely go-to receiver Cam Coleman comes in at a tie for 62nd with 250-to-1 odds.
Some other notable players on the list include:
- Former Parker High School RB Makhi Hughes | Oregon | 120-to-1
- Former South Alabama QB Gio Lopez | North Carolina | 150-to-1
- Former Alabama DB Caleb Downs | Ohio State | 180-to-1
- Former Clay-Chalkville High School WR Squirrel White | Florida State | 500-to-1
