Four Alabama cities were ranked in the top 20 of Niche’s annual rankings for best places to buy a house across the country including one community taking the top spot for the first time.
Hazel Green, one of two places in Alabama to receive an A+ housing grade from Niche, topped the list. A total of nine Alabama spots were named in Niche’s top 200 including:
- #1 Hazel Green
- #3 Madison
- #6 Meadowbrook
- #19 Triana
- #26 Alexandria
- #115 Morris
- #136 Weaver
- #146 Blue Ridge
- #172 Calera

Hazel Green, Alabama
Hazel Green is located on the north side of the metro area, closer to the state line. Here are some quick facts about the area:
- Population: 3,765
- Median Home Value: $179,500
- Area: 10 square miles
While it’s still technically an unincorporated community in Madison County, Hazel Green has made a name for itself not just in the Huntsville metro, but across the state.
Sure, it helps to have the state’s best girls basketball program over the last decade. But that’s not the only impressive part of the school system as Niche gives the community an A- grade for its public schools.
