Wiregrass area director makes debut with new movie
Reading time: 2 minutes
The Ozark, Alabama native Acorye White made his director debut when his movie Trinket Box came out on the popular streaming service Tubi. Keep scrolling to learn more about White, his career and Trinket Box.
Wiregrass native turned director
White told WTVY that even though he is one of the main faces in the film, he didn’t always want to be an actor. His passion grew from an acting 101 class he took at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where he also played football for the Blazers.
White expressed that when he took the stage, he had a very similar feeling to when he takes the field.
“Once I got on the stage, everything just disappeared. That only happened to me in sports, so I was like ‘not gonna tell anybody about this.”

Now, White has made a career out of acting, directing and writing. WTVY reported that he has an even bigger project in the works with Chris Brewster, a Hollywood stunts coordinator. You might have heard of some of the movies Brewster has worked on—does Black Panther or Captain America ring a bell?
Other Alabama talents who worked on Trinket Box are Executive Producers Tru’kessa S. Scott and Annie R. Austin from Clayton and Arthur Bruce Junior from Montgomery.
