Step back in time

Once you step foot into Wilson Park, you are transported back in time by the perfect execution of the event. The park is transformed into a village you would see during the renaissance times, all of the tents and events are perfectly curated to the time period.

Along with vendors, and food trucks, there is also a lot of live entertainment taking place at the festival. Performers include dancers, combat demonstrators, and theatrical performers, and musicians.

Along with all of the eye-catching entertainment found throughout the festival, there is also plenty of food and vendors to check out while you are there. One of the most popular food item at the event is the turkey legs, which represents the time period perfectly. There are also plenty of modern food options available.

Another popular attraction is the many different vendors found throughout the faire grounds. Some of the items you can find at the vendor tents include pottery, hand crafted goods, jewelry and clothing.

History of the event

The Alabama Renaissance Faire began in 1987 and has slowly become one of the largest free renaissance festivals in the south. A group local to the Shoals area who refer to themselves as the roundtable started the event in Florence. Their mission was to bring a sense of history and pageantry to the area.

The event has become a beloved tradition that celebrates both history and fantasy.
