9 March events to soak up the amazing Gulf Coast spring weather

March is a busy month down here on the Gulf Coast. We like to cram as many events into the wonderful March weather as possible before the April showers wash it away and awaken the heat. If you’re finding yourself overwhelmed with all your outings options for March, keep reading! We’ve got your back with the low-down on 9 awesome March events to attend next month.

1. Fairhope Arts & Crafts Festival

The Fairhope Arts & Crafts Festival is a massive showcase of artists, artisans and makers that’s been attracting creative minds all over the country for 70 years, making it an incredibly popular event down here. This three-day event is full of art booths, farmer’s market-type goods, live music and great food. As an added bonus, it takes place in the absolutely beautiful downtown Fairhope.

2. 9th Annual Buds & Brews Festival in Downtown Mobile

If you like flowers and love beer, you’ll love the 9th Annual Buds & Brews Festival hosted in Cathedral Square in downtown Mobile. Technically a part of Mobile’s Festival of Flowers, the Buds & Brews Festival takes advantage of the gorgeous living sculptures in Cathedral Square to host a locally-brewed beer festival.

3. O’Manci’s 4th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Party

Feeling lucky this St. Patty’s Day? Go on down to O’Manci’s 4th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Block Party, where there will be libations abound plus live music all day.

4. 70th Annual Mobile Boat Show

If you or someone in your life loves fishing, boats and the like, you’ve got to check out the 70th annual Mobile Boat Show. There will be booths full of premium boating and fishing accessories as well as seminars related to all sorts of marine activities. There are also family events like the kid’s fishing seminar and touch tanks.

5. Plantasia Plant Sale at Mobile Botanical Gardens

Plantasia is Mobile Botanical Gardens’ spring plant sale, one of the largest in the Southeast! You can find just about any plant for your spring garden here.

6. 6th Annual Cajun cook-off in downtown Mobile

The downtown Cajun cook-off showcases the best of Cajun food that Mobile has to offer. Join local chefs and businesses all morning and afternoon to enjoy some delicious Cajun food while listening to live music on the Bud Light Stage. Even better? Proceeds from the event go to the Child Advocacy Center.

7. 14th Annual Foley BBQ & Blues Cook-Off

The Foley BBQ & Blues Cook-Off is a weekend full of great food, family events and music. There’s a Friday night kickoff with live music and a raffle event. Saturday is the cook-off itself, with scrumptious BBQ, arts & crafts, live music and so much more.

8. Brides Just Wanna Have Fun Bridal Expo

If the wedding planning stress is getting to you or someone you know, check out the Brides Just Wanna Have Fun Bridal Expo in downtown Mobile. They’ve got door prizes, raffles, fashion shows and so much more to help brides plan their magical day.

9. Festival of Flowers

Every March, the City of Mobile hosts the Festival of Flowers, where local artists and florists work together to make living sculptures of flowers and other plants in Cathedral Square. Organized in teams, entrants go head-to-head in a design competition to gauge who has the best artwork.
