After two losses to Coastal Carolina, the Tigers wrapped up the season 41-20 + bid a final farewell to seniors Cooper McMurray, Parker Carlson, Samuel Dutton, Carson Myers + Ike Irish.

“The players gave us everything for an entire year, and the coaches probably could do two or three different things. I always feel that way if we don’t get the result that we want, but the guys battled hard, and this will fuel us, hopefully, to reset something and to try to strive for consistency.”

Although Coastal Carolina’s sweep was a “batter” pill for Auburn fans to swallow, fans can look forward to the team’s upcoming talent + renewed drive to succeed as Tigers return to the field next season.

“I absolutely tip the hat to Coastal Carolina. Just a great run and a great season for our guys. Some of the young players helped us. Our leadership was great. I talked to our guys about a mantra this year, go M.A.D. (make a difference), and they did. They made a difference for me and our fans. As you could tell this year, they endeared themselves to amazing fans.”

Coastal Carolina will now head to the Men’s College World Series (MCWS) for the second time, where they’ll play at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Neb.

This past season, as the Auburn Tigers clawed their way to the No. 4 spot, the numbers of fans in attendance at the newly renovated Plainsman Park swung to all-time highs.

The park’s renovation included:

  • New premium club spaces
  • An expansion of general admission spaces
  • Expanded student viewing access
  • State-of-the-art sound system
  • Two new park entrances
  • Improved concessions
    • Soda-refill stations (unlimited refills/same-game)
    • Expanded menus with healthy options
    • An increase in concession stands

Opening Day at the park, when the Tigers faced off against Holy Cross, the attendance record was broken with 5,718 fans making their way into the stands.

On Friday, June 6, fans flooded the stands + knocked ticket sales out of the park once more with 7,891 in total attendance. As tickets were quick to sell out, many even supported the Tigers from the stadium parking deck on Auburn University’s campus.

The four levels of the deck was a sight to be seen with fans cheering amid foldout chairs, coolers + open tailgates.

For the Tigers’ second face-off against Coastal Carolina on Saturday, June 7, attendance dipped slightly to 7,841 — but still marked the second highest attendance record in the park’s history.
