Did you know that the trains rumbling past Decatur’s Historic Depot and Railroad Museum can be viewed online all over the world? Grab your conductor’s hat and read on to learn more and how to watch the livestreams.

Virtual Railfan, Inc. (VR),ca worldwide provider of 24/7 live streams of popular railroad locations, has installed high-definition cameras at Historic Union Depot in Decatur, Alabama. The cameras are mounted on the building and offer great views of the parade of trains that roll by the depot every day.

Viewers can tune in to watch the trains as well as live chat with other people to converse about the station, the city, its history and events while awaiting the next train. The virtual experience will also help market the attraction and city to potential visitors.

“We are thrilled the Historic Decatur Union Depot has been added as a Virtual Railfan site. We celebrate the historical, cultural and tourism economic benefits which will be brought to Decatur by VR, and look forward to hosting many VR rail enthusiasts and their families at the Historic Decatur Railroad Depot Museum in the future.”

David Breland, Manager of Historic Resources, City of Decatur/ Decatur Parks and Recreation
