Dothan breaks ground on new covered pickleball facility
Reading time: 2 minutes

The state’s latest pickleball project is underway in Dothan.
The city has officially broken ground on a new covered facility near Rip Hewes Stadium. It will include:
- 25 covered courts
- 1 court designated for championship play
- Food truck hookups
- Upgraded facilities
“It’s incredible to know we’re building a premier pickleball facility—not only for our local players but for the thousands of enthusiasts who will travel here from across the region. This gives us the opportunity to host everything from local league play to major tournaments, which will bring new visitors and their economic impact to Dothan.”
Billy Powell, Dothan Leisure Services Director
The city hopes the new facility will be available to use by Spring 2026.
