Kiplinger, a publisher of business forecasts and personal finance advice, released a list of the top 10 U.S. cities with the cheapest pizza. The great thing about this list is that two Alabama cities made the cut.

And the cities are…

Mobile ranked 10th

Mobile landed 10th place on Kiplinger’s list. According to Kiplinger, a regular cheese pizza in Mobile averages around $9.77 which saves 15.1% in comparison to the average price nationally.

Kiplinger mentioned that pizza is just a small part of the city’s overall low cost of living. Here what they had to say:

“Comparatively affordable housing costs and bargain prices on all manner of goods and services, like pizza, make Mobile one of the 10 cheapest places to live among all U.S. cities.”

Dan Burrows, Editor, Kiplinger (from Kiplinger article)

Florence ranked 5th

The Florence-Muscle Shoals metro area came in at 5th place on Kiplinger’s list. A standard cheese pizza would cost $9.52 which saves 17.3% in comparison to the average price nationally. According to Kiplinger, housing-related expenses are almost 38% lower than what the average American pays, in addition to the great deals on pizza.

One other fun fact about Kiplinger’s 10 U.S. cities with the cheapest pizza list is that more than five Southern cities are on the list with our Alabama faves. Those cities and placements include:

  • Austin, Texas | 8th place
  • Orlando, Florida | 6th place
  • Amarillo, Texas | 4th place
  • Charleston, South Carolina | 3rd place
  • Vero Beach, Florida | 2nd place
