Between the end of the school year + a long holiday weekend, there will likely be plenty of people on the road between now and Monday.
Memorial Day often brings the unofficial start of summer travel season. But with gas prices continuing to climb, some travel may be cut short or at least have a different budget this year.
According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in Alabama has gone up another nine cents in the last week. Here are some numbers to show the recent climb:
- May 22: $4.16
- May 15: $4.07
- April 22: $3.72
- May 22, 2025: $2.74
Alabama still remains below the national average of $4.55/gallon. That’s the highest national average for Memorial Day weekend since 2022.
