You’ll love Huntsville’s Tinsel Trail—now ’till Jan. 2

I’ve seen my fair share of Tinsel Trails but I must say—Huntsville’s takes the cake. There are over 300 decorated trees in Big Spring Park, a popular downtown Huntsville spot. It truly is a sight to see. Here’s everything you need to know.

Know before you go

In downtown Huntsville, you’ll find live trees decorated in unique, creative and thoughtful ways. Some have themes; some look like Santa’s elves decorated the tree themselves—all are fun to look at. Every time you think there couldn’t be any other way to decorate a tree, you turn and see something unbe-leaf-able.

Grab some local coffee before, lace up some ice skates in the park or enjoy some of Huntsville’s other downtown holiday events. You can make an entire evening (or day) out of it. The Tinsel Trail would be great for friends, families or even couples looking for a romantic holiday date night.

Who decorates each tree?

The Tinsel Trail is all about the Huntsville community. Who better to decorate each tree than the community members themselves? Each tree represents a local organization, group or even family.

You’ll really get a sense of Huntsville’s roots. See what I did there?

Each tree is reserved in advance and some have been given to local nonprofits.

Who do we have to thank for the Tinsel Trail? Downtown Huntsville, Inc. This is an annual event and from what I’ve seen, it’s a favorite among Huntsvillians.
