Improvements coming soon to Florence’s beloved McFarland Park

The City of Florence recently announced plans to begin renovations to improve McFarland Park in the near future. The park is a hotspot for activity in Florence, with a riverfront location and plenty of room for activities.

The project aims to make improvements and renovations on the camping grounds of the park. Keep reading for more information on the improvements.

Renovation grant

Florence received a grant for over $400,000 for improvement projects to the campgrounds. The total project costs are estimated at around $800,000 and significant updates will be made to the campgrounds.

The city has an ongoing commitment to enhancing outdoor and recreation opportunities. With the generous funding and partnership with the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA), major changes should help McFarland Park and its visitors.

Improvements and updates

Most of the improvements to the park are targeted towards the campgrounds, however, there are numerous updates to be made all around the area. Improvements towards the campgrounds include:

• New RV camping pads
• Stone fire pits
• Updated electrical services
• Improved water hookups
• WiFi hotspots
• Updated entry signs
• Widened access roads

Other updates to other areas of the park include new picnic tables, grill stations, and fire pit seating.

McFarland Park

Nestled in between downtown Florence and the Tennessee River is McFarland Park. It’s a very popular location for community events and other outdoor activities like camping, fishing, and water sports.

The park includes over 60 campsites with amenities along with picnic shelters and fireplaces. Other popular features include:

• Restaurant and marine store
• Playgrounds
• Jogging trails
• Baseball fields
