By now, you have most likely heard the whispers going around town about the possibility of a new Buc-ee’s coming to Auburn. Well, do I have some good news for you: It’s official! There will be a new Buc-ee’s location coming to Auburn very soon, and here is everything you need to know.

A Recap of What We Already Knew

So, we knew that the plan for Buc-ee’s gas station would be to secure a spot right off of Interstate 85 on exit 50 at Cox Road. The project construction would start towards the end of this year and take a whole year to finish. The Buc-ee’s in Auburn would have about 120 pumps for fuel and over 470 parking spots (everything is bigger when it comes from Texas, right?)

We also knew that there were multiple steps to be made before this was official, and a city council meeting needed to be held in order to work all the details out. A lot of hard work and approvals needed to be done before it was finalized. If this was going to be a go, then it would be the 4th location in Alabama. There is a Buc-ee’s in Robertsdale, Leeds, and final plans for one in Athens.

What We Have Learned Since Then

Since then, the Auburn City Council has approved 6 items on their regular agenda to allow for a Buc-ee’s to be built in Auburn. The council also unanimously approved the agreement between the city and Buc-ee’s Auburn LLC. The agreement is that the city will remit portions of certain sales, use, and fuel taxes to Buc-ee’s for a period of up to 25 years in exchange for the company investing about $45 million to construct this location.

The new Buc-ee’s will create over 175 jobs in the community of Auburn, with a pay rate minimum of $15 an hour. This Buc-ee’s is estimated to make $2 to $2.6 million annually in different tax revenues and will donate $50,000 to community programs and activities for the city.

It was also approved for the place where Buc-ee’s will be built, on the corner of Cox Road and Interstate 85, to be annexed into the city and rezoned to a Comprehensive Development District. The city was also able to approve the site for conditional use of a gas station, convenience store, tractor supply, sales & repair.

We now know that Buc-ee’s will begin construction no later than December 31, 2021, and be open for business by December 31, 2022.

It’s official y’all, Buc-ee’s is coming to Auburn!

Fun Things to Look Forward to

Buc-ee’s is going to be a huge hit in Auburn with so many fun things to look forward to. They have delicious food such as homemade fudge and their famous jerky. They also have award-winning barbeque chefs come and cook for Buc-ee’s! We can’t forget about the special Beaver nuggets or yummy pastries.

It is not just a quick stop to fill up on gas. It is a whole experience. The restrooms are clean and the people are friendly, what more could anyone want? But there is so much more. Buc-ee’s is full of surprises. Locations also have fun things other than food, such as dog parks, bike stations, Buc-ee’s clothing and toys, home decor, and hunting/fishing gear!
