Montgomery Biscuits clinch spot in championship series

Montgomery has moved into the Southern League Championship Series for the third time in the last five seasons.
The Biscuits finished off a sweep of the Biloxi Shuckers in the first round of the playoffs and will now get a rematch with the Birmingham Barons in the championship. Montgomery will host Games 2 + 3 of the series.
Here’s the best-of-3 championship series schedule:
- Game 1: Biscuits 2, Barons 1
- Game 2: Barons 7, Biscuits 3

Montgomery is searching for its first Southern League championship since winning back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2007. The Biscuits lost the championship series last season to the Birmingham Barons.

Kevin Boles is the manager for the Biscuits, taking the team to the championship series in each of his two seasons at the helm. He reached 1,400 career wins as a manager earlier this season.
Montgomery won 78 games during the regular season, the fourth straight year with at least 70 wins.

- P Alex Cook: Reliable relief arm who can touch triple digits; 10.34 K/9 in the regular season, earned save in division series clinching win
