Central Alabama Community College (CACC) has officially broken ground on its new Center of Excellence for Innovation and Technology, a $5 million investment in workforce training and education, which is part of a larger $5M workforce training investment Prattville aimed at boosting the local economy.
The new facility will be located at CACC’s Prattville campus on U.S. Highway 31, serving students across Autauga County and the surrounding region.
Scheduled to open in 2026, the center will focus on preparing students for high-demand careers in fields like technology, healthcare, and skilled trades.
At the groundbreaking event, CACC President Jeff Lynn emphasized the importance of aligning education with real-world needs—creating opportunities for students to build careers without leaving Alabama.

What the Center of Excellence Brings to Prattville:
The new facility is designed to serve both students and employers by equipping people with in-demand skills and building stronger pathways to local careers.
- 🧪 Workforce-Ready Labs — Equipped for hands-on training in automation, advanced manufacturing, cybersecurity, and allied health.
- 🏫 Collaborative Classrooms — Modern spaces designed for project-based learning and real-world application.
- 📚 Industry-Aligned Programs — Focused on job skills that match Alabama’s growing employment sectors.
- 🤝 Employer Partnerships — A pipeline between local businesses and skilled graduates, built to support hiring and mentorship.
Together, these features position the center as a long-term economic driver for Prattville and the surrounding region—one focused on opportunity, access, and sustainability.

Why It Matters for Prattville + Central Alabama
This project is more than a new building—it represents a long-term investment in educational access and workforce readiness. As Prattville and Autauga County continue to grow, so does the need for job-focused education that prepares students for real opportunities in their own communities.
With its focus on innovation and practical training, the Center of Excellence is positioned to support both students and local industries—offering a clear path from the classroom to the workplace and helping meet the region’s evolving labor demands.
