Twelve new building permits were issued this past week on Alabama for construction projects exceeding $1 million, with multiple projects exceeding $10 million.

The largest of these projects is the new Pike Road High School, which was issued a permit for $95 million. Here’s more:

Construction on new Pike Road High School underway

The new Pike Road High School will go on Wallahatchie Road, close to Pike Road, across the street from the water tower.

With more than 200,000 square feet of planned space, the facility is expected to have more than 55 classrooms and is designed to accommodate about 1,200 students in grades 9 through 12.

The new campus will have two gymnasiums and a state-of-the-art performing arts center. The project will cost just under $100 million, and Stone Building Co. is listed as the lead contractor.
