As Halloween approaches, one can’t help to think of Tuscaloosa’s Drish House. It’s said to be a haunted landmark. Read down below for mysterious stories and a little bit of Drish House’s historical significance.
The Story of Dr. Drish
One of the most infamous Drish House stories is of Dr. John Drish. He, his wife, and her daughter Catherine lived in the house in the early 1800s.
It is said that Dr. Drish drunkenly fell down the stairs to his death. Ever since there have been reported sightings of candles in the tower when no one is home.
The Green Sisters
Sometime later the Green family resided in the home. One of the two daughters awoke to a strange figure standing over her. She asked her family about it, but no one was in there the night before. That same evening, the same thing happened to the other Green daughter.
Inside the House
Inside, there are spooky things caught on camera that are more than just a coincidence. One story entails the owner taking a photo outside of the house, and a face appears in the window when no one is inside. Videos taken have had flutters of something unknown, and when looking off-camera it’s nowhere to be seen.
The Phantom Flames
The story goes that someone hid in the tower, and eventually was forced to reveal themself after being starved for so long. Their punishment was to be burned, and some say they have seen the flames. However, there is no evidence Drish House has ever been on fire.
