Reading time: 2 minutes
Though many would argue that wings are good all year round, football season has Alabamians craving them even more. Just as tailgating is ramping up, Cheapism just came out with their list of the best wings in every state. Keep reading to see if you agree with their pick for our state.
Baumhowers ranked the best wings in Alabama
Baumhowers has been serving up its famous wings for over 40 years in Alabama, their flagship location opening in 1981 in Tuscaloosa. Named after All-American Crimson Tide football player and owner Bob Baumhower, the wings spot quickly became a go-to for football fans to get their game day food fix while cheering on their teams.
Here’s what Cheapism had to say about Baumhowers.
“In a state with culinary tradition as diverse as Alabama’s, there is no consensus on what makes a good wing. Fried wings, smoked wings, Jamaican jerk chicken … there’s a lot to process. Former Miami Dolphins nose tackle Bob Baumhower brought the Buffalo wing to this state in 1981, but his Baumhower’s restaurants offer perhaps the broadest sampling of Alabama’s wing repertoire.”

In addition, they included their flavor recs:
- Buffalo (duh)
- Lemon pepper
- Jamaican jerk
