New Tuscaloosa County DHR facility among this week’s building permits

Three new building permits were issued this past week for construction projects exceeding $1 million, with two of those projects being in Tusacaloosa.

The priciest of these projects is a new facility for the Tuscaloosa County Department of Human Resources. Here’s what we know:

New Tuscaloosa County DHR building

This project is for all new construction on a new site at the corner of Culver Road and 29th Street in Tuscaloosa. The scope of work includes:

  • Sitework
  • Landscaping
  • Concrete
  • Masonry
  • Structural steel
  • Framing
  • Metal trusses
  • Shingle roofing
  • Woodwork and casework
  • Doors and hardware
  • Storefront systems
  • Drywall
  • HVAC, 
  • Plumbing and electrical

The expected cost of the project is $12.7 million, J.T. Harrison Construction is the lead contractor on this project.
