River Town Center
The city describes the River Town Center as “a transformative shopping center development that promises to significantly enhance the economic vitality and community spirit” of the area.
City officials believe this development can help:
- Enhance local commerce
- Create job opportunities
- Stimulate further investment in Wetumpka
It will be located on Coosa River Parkway across from the main entrance to the Wetumpka Sports Complex that has undergone new developments of its own including a new football stadium used by the high school.
“This is an exciting day for Wetumpka. We have been looking forward to this for some time… It takes all of us working together to be able to accomplish something like this.”
~ Jerry Willis, Wetumpka mayor
Willis said the city bought about 45 acres of land on the west side of the river for commercial development to complement the sports complex. The city has already received three letters of intent for the purchase and development of lots at River Town Center.
Construction began today on the infrastructure and new roads. Phase 1 of the project is expected to be completed this fall but there is currently no projected end date for the development.
