While two of our in-state men’s college basketball teams are still competing for a national title, some of the best women’s college teams in the country will be in Birmingham this weekend.

Half of the next two rounds in the NCAA women’s basketball tournament will be played at Legacy Arena as teams look to secure a spot in this year’s Final Four in Tampa. There will be eight teams—all of which were ranked in the latest AP Poll—playing in Birmingham including:

  • No. 2 South Carolina
  • No. 5 Texas
  • No. 6 TCU
  • No. 7 Duke
  • No. 8 Notre Dame
  • No. 12 North Carolina
  • No. 18 Maryland
  • No. 20 Tennessee

There will be four Sweet 16 matchups and two Elite 8 games with two teams securing a trip to the national semifinals. Keep reading for the complete schedule.

It’s going to be a busy weekend around the BJCC but expect the college basketball crowds to take over areas of Uptown Birmingham.
