12 new million-dollar-plus construction permits approved in Alabama, June 7th
We’ve got the inside scoop on 12 new million-dollar-plus construction permits awarded to contractors in Alabama last week, including a new hotel concept coming soon to Huntsville. Keep reading for information like contractor names, contracts, permits values, project addresses and much more.
1. New stayAPT Suites in Huntsville

A new hotel chain is making its way to Huntsville. Launched in 2020, stayAPT Suites is a new hotel chain aiming to build a portfolio of extended-stay hotels throughout the country. Although the brand launched last year with 12 newly-constructed hotels, they’re kicking things up a notch in 2021 by opening an additional 30 locations—including one in Huntsville.
Inside, each room at a stayAPT Suites will include:
- 500+ square-feet of living space, including a living room decked out with a sleeper sofa, lounge chair + a wall-mounted 55-inch TV.
- A full kitchen, including a stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave & refrigerators. A large island separates the kitchen & living areas.
- A separate bedroom, available with either a king- or double queen-sized beds, a walk-in closet and a second large TV.
As an extended-stay hotel, stayAPT Suites is catered towards business professionals seeking a long-term living arrangement in a foreign town. In Huntsville, stayAPT Suites will be a welcome addition for visitors to Redstone Arsenal and NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center. The hotel should be open by the end of 2021.
2. AMR REIT plans new location at Jefferson Country Metropolitan Industrial Park

The Jefferson County Metropolitan Park at McCalla could soon be welcoming a new tenant. AMR REIT, a Dallas-based private real estate investment trust, is planning to construction a new property at the Jefferson Metropolitan Park, a 739-acre industrial park in McCalla.
On May 28th, AMR REIT awarded a $13.8M building contract to Fernando Andrade Architects, a firm based out of Fort Worth, Texas. The project, which includes up to three industrial buildings, may be planned as one of AMR REIT’s income-producing properties.
