Alabama, Auburn each land 5-star QB recruit: See where both teams sit after National Signing Day

The early National Signing Day moved up a couple of more weeks this season. While high school football is still happening around the country, including right here in Alabama, some of the top players have already signed up for their next stop.
Alabama had a big day, getting some of the biggest recruits from across the country, but Auburn had an advantage on the top players from our state.

Pair of 5-star quarterbacks join rivalry
Two of the top four quarterback recruits in the country, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, will soon take opposite roles in future Iron Bowl matchups.
For Deuce Knight, he becomes the highest rated quarterback recruit out of high school to ever sign with Auburn. Here’s what you need to know about the newest member of the Tigers’ QB room:
- From Lucedale, Mississippi
- 6-foot-4, 195 pounds
- No. 4 QB in Class of 2025, 0.9860 rating (247 Sports Composite)
- Long jump state champion; also plays basketball
Alabama countered with a big quarterback pickup of its own. Keelon Russell committed to the Tide back in June and he officially signed as the highest rated recruit in this year’s class.
Here’s what you need to know about Russell, a potential replacement for Jalen Milroe:
- From Duncanville, Texas
- 6-foot-3, 175 pounds
- No. 2 QB in Class of 2025, 0.9984 rating (247 Sports Composite)
- 2-time high school state champion
Tide, Tigers finish in top 6
Alabama officially finished as No. 2 in the 247 Sports Composite class rankings after the early National Signing Day. The Crimson Tide finished with:
- Four 5-stars
- 14 4-stars
- 22 total signees
Meanwhile, the class Hugh Freeze has been promising Auburn fans will arrive soon. The Tigers currently sit 6th in the Class of 2025 rankings, its highest on 247 Sports since 2014. The class includes:
- One 5-star
- 16 4-stars
- 25 total signees
Top recruits in Alabama
Hugh Freeze made the most noise right here in the state of Alabama, securing eight of the top 10 recruits in the Class of 2025. The Tigers officially signed 11 players from the state.
According to 247 Sports, the state’s top 10 recruits, and where they signed, include:
- Na’eem Offord, Parker HS — Oregon
- Jared Smith, Thompson HS — Auburn
- Malik Autry, Opelika HS — Auburn
- Anquon Fegans, Thompson HS — Auburn
- Eric Winters, Enterprise HS — Auburn
- Jakaleb Faulk, Highland Home HS — Auburn
- Zion Grady, Enterprise HS — Ohio State
- Jourdin Crawford, Parker HS — Auburn
- Derick Smith, Southside Selma HS — Auburn
- Antonio Coleman, Saraland HS — Auburn
