Aldi in Madison County among new high-dollar building permits

This past week, 13 new building permits were issued across the state for construction projects exceeding $1 million. Seven of these permits are for projects in the Birmingham area, while two are in Lee County and two are on Prattville.

The lone permit issued in Madison County is for a much-anticipated Aldi grocery store in the city of Madison. Hers’s more:

One of the priciest building permits issued this past week was a $3.1 million permit for the new Aldi grocery store on Madison Blvd. The lead contractor is listed as Spencer Schimmel.

Here are some more details on the construction:

  • The store will be approximately 19,432 square feet in size.
  • The store will have 113 parking spaces.
  • The site is being designed for the future subdivision of the property into three lots.
  • The store is expected to open in 2026
