Amazon continues to invest in different areas across Alabama with the most recent project coming out of Oxford.

The company announced a new 85,000-square-foot delivery station has opened on McIntosh Road, creating up to 70 jobs + additional driver opportunities.

The facility is located in the Oxford South Industrial Park. The launch of the new station is the result of a long-standing partnership between Amazon, the City of Oxford, the Calhoun County Economic Development Council and other key stakeholders.

“As Amazon continues to invest in the economic growth of Alabama, we are excited to contribute to that growth with the launch of our newest delivery station in the state. Our commitment to driving economic growth and creating high-quality jobs in rural communities is exemplified with the launch of this facility. We’re grateful for the partnership and support from the Calhoun County EDC, Oxford Mayor Alton Craft, and the city of Oxford.”

Delivery stations power the last mile of Amazon’s order process and help increase the speed of deliveries. Packages are shipped to a delivery station from neighboring Amazon Fulfillment and Sortation Centers, loaded into delivery vehicles and delivered to customers.

The facilities work to offer entrepreneurs the opportunity to build their own business delivering Amazon packages, as well as independent contractors the flexibility to be their own boss and create their own schedule delivering for Amazon Flex.

“By collaborating with the Calhoun County EDC and other stakeholders, we’re creating meaningful opportunities for growth in our area. Projects like this not only boost our local economy but also support the families who proudly call Calhoun County home.”
