Gadsden Sports Complex among 9 new million-dollar-plus building permits
This week in Alabama, nine new building permits were issued for construction projects exceeding $1 million. These permits include five projects in North Alabama, two in the Birmingham metro area, one in Auburn and one in Gadsden.
The permit in Gadsden is for another phase of the Gadsden Sports Park.
Gadsden Sports Park
Another phase of the new Gadsden Sports Park is one of the larger building permits issued this week in the state.
The phases of this project are as follows:
- Phase One began in the winter of 2020 and consisted of reallocating former fisheries into three NCAA multipurpose fields, installing concessions and restrooms, and incorporating a walking trail.
- Phase Two, completed in Spring of 2023, saw the redesign of the existing softball and baseball fields and reconstruction of the concessions area.
- Phase Three, underway now, includes installing concrete around the Champions Field (a facility that is special needs-accessible), adding netting around the baseball fields, and finalizing the irrigation systems.
- Phase Four is set to begin soon with clearings for future baseball and softball fields already underway. It will also see the renovation of the existing soccer field.
This week’s $9.4 million permit lists Kyser Construction as the lead contractor.
