Big news for Montgomery
This Alabama city is already familiar with Hyundia—we’re talking about it being the largest private manufacturer in the area with 2,700 full-time and 500 part-time employees, according to Transportation Today. With incredible numbers like that, the company decided to open a new 260,000-square-foot facility. This $388 million facility will be making engines for Hyundai cars.
“Hyundai’s investment to prepare the Montgomery facility for next-generation engines underscores the strength of the alliance we have formed with the automaker and sets the stage for continued growth in this mutually beneficial relationship.”
Greg Canfield, Secretary, Alabama Department of Commerce
What will be made at this engine facility?
To help with the production of Sonata and Elantra sedans, this engine facility will make:
- 65,000 engines annually
- Smartstream 1.6L Turbo Gasoline Direct Injection 4-cylinder engine
- Smartstream 2.5L Gasoline Direct Injection 4-cylinder engine
We’re excited about the new opportunities that will come with the opening of this facility. If you’re a Montgomery resident, be sure to be on the lookout for one of the 50 jobs available to help make these engines.
