Reading time: 2 minutes
The City of Prattville has some big plans for Main Street. A new $3.45M entertainment venue is in the works, and it’s going to be big. Here’s what you need to know.
The potential entertainment venue in Prattville
The new entertainment venue is proposed to be located between the City Hall Annex and Old Whitney Bank Property from Main Street to Tichnor Street.
If it gets approval and moves forward to construction, here’s what’s in store for downtown Prattville:
- Multi-use pavilion
- Stage + smaller pavilion
- Multi-use space with recreational games and/or spillover seating
- Canopy-covered area for seating or spillover access from bank building
- Walking path with trees + seating
- Additional parking
“This project is about continuing the revitalization of downtown Prattville while providing a quality of place to offer diversified quality of life opportunities. Providing this type of family entertainment and recreational area, will encourage further urbanized living, business sustainability, easier walkability and growth opportunities for all who choose to live, work and play in Historic Downtown Prattville.”
Lisa Byrd, Mayor’s Executive Assistant, City of Prattville
In addition, they have an idea to create a rooftop experience, but have not yet verified the stability of the roof to accommodate it.
To make room for the development, the existing bank drive-thru and abandoned grocery store would both have to be removed.
What’s next for the City of Prattville
This exciting project is a budgeted expense in the 2023-2024 City of Prattville Budget Capital Projects Fund, but still requires council action for construction. Be sure to follow along for more updates!
