Steinway & Sons Music Teacher Hall of Fame inducts Troy University piano teacher
Steinway & Sons, a renowned name in the piano sphere, recently inducted 67 music teachers into their Music Teacher Hall of Fame—one of which was from Troy University. Keep reading for Dr. Yang’s story.
About Troy University’s Dr. Yang
With a vast repertoire, impressive resume and extensive experience in music education, Dr. Hui-Ting Yang is an instrumental part of Troy University’s music faculty.
Dr. Yang’s education includes a doctoral degree and two masters:
- Doctor of Music in Collaborative/Chamber Music from Florida State University
- Master of Music in Accompanying from Florida State University
- Master of Music in Piano Performance from Ohio University
- Bachelor of Music Education from Taipei Municipal University of Education
She’s been the spotlight of several awe-inspiring concerts, duets, performances and tours here in the U.S. and as far away as the Czech Republic and Taiwan. In addition, she’s produced recorded works and given lectures and master classes to many pianists.
Currently, Dr. Yang is a Professor of Music – Piano at Troy University’s John M. Long School of Music, where she also serves as the Interim Director of the School of Music.
Dr. Yang received the Troy University 2009 Faculty Senate Excellence Award, and now, she’s been recognized on a national scale.
This fall, 67 teachers from the United States and Canada were inducted into the Steinway & Sons Music Teacher Hall of Fame with special events hosted at the historic Steinway factory in New York City. Teachers were selected for this award for their outstanding instruction and leadership in acoustic piano education and their commitment to teaching in their community for over a decade.
Dr. Yang’s name is now displayed on a wall inside of the iconic factory.
