New fire station in Mountain Brook

The $7.6 million permit for the new Fire Station No. 2 in the Birmingham suburb of Mountain Brook comes in time for the city to break ground on the project this week.

Here’s what we know about this project:

  • The new station is located on Overton Road, just down the road from the current station no. 2.
  • Construction is already underway at the new location.
  • The station will be finished in about 18 months.
  • City officials said the former station no. 2 will be torn down and used as an extension of Overton Park.

Stone Building Co. is listed as the lead contractor on this project.
