Food City store among new high-dollar building permits in Alabama
This past week, nine new building permits were issued statewide for construction projects exceeding $1 million.
All but one of these permits are for projects in North Alabama. Here’s more on these new building permits:
New Food City location in Madison County
One of this week’s building permits is for a Food City location in the Huntsville area, located at 150 Old Gurley Road NE. This is one of six new Food City locations planned for Madison County.
Here are a few quick facts about Food City and these new stores in Huntsville:
- Food City will invest $90 million to build the six new stores in Huntsville.
- The stores will create 1,350 jobs over the next five years.
- The City of Huntsville will provide cost reimbursements up to $9 million (total for all six locations opened) in sales tax to offset a portion of the company’s infrastructure costs incurred for construction of the six locations.
- Projected revenues calculate a two-year return on investment for the City (or projected revenues indicate the city will recover its investment within two years).
- The company will not qualify for any cost reimbursements until all new stores in Huntsville are completed and open to the public.
