This past week, 18 new building permits were issued in Alabama for construction projects exceeding $1 million. Nine of the permits are for projects in North Alabama (four of these permits are at the same address in Huntsville) and five are in the Birmingham metro.

Brasfield + Gorrie HQ expansion

An addition to the Brasfield & Gorrie headquarters in Birmingham is the priciest of the 18 new building permits this past week, at $13.5 million.

Here are some details:

The project will add a 28,500-square-foot, three-story building to Brasfield & Gorries’s Lakeview campus in Birmingham.
The addition will allow for the creation of 85 jobs.
The job creation will take place over five years with positions paying an average annual salary of $74,000.
Brasfield & Gorrie stated they expect construction to begin soon, with a completion date targeted for Summer 2025.
