12 tasty openings Montgomery had in 2021 + 1 to be excited for in 2022

As the year ends, it’s only right to take a look back at what tasty restaurants in Montgomery opened this past year. We’ve researched and found some openings, then checked out what Montgomery Advertiser had to say. Keep reading for all the details.

1. Verde Cafe

Nothing compares to having a good meal and a beautiful view. This is exactly what customers get at Verde Cafe. All meals are made with fresh and local ingredients. Placed inside the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, Verde Cafe overlooks Newell lake and Blount County Cultural Parks.

Be sure to try their Southern sampler and their famous pimento cheese, which was featured in Taste of the South magazine.

2. The Coffee House

Be sure to add this coffee spot to your must-try list in 2022. Downtown Montgomery welcomed one of the only black owned coffee shops in the area. This cozy spot is perfect for those, like me, who love a warm pastry with a cup of joe.

3. Buffalo’s Cafe

Although Buffalo’s first location opened in Roswell, Georgia in 1985, Montgomery is home to the welcomes the first Buffalo’s Cafe in Alabama. This restaurant is perfect for family and friends to gather and have a good time. Buffalo’s offers 13 homemade sauce options for their famous buffalo wings. The menu doesn’t stop there! From burgers to wraps to salads, there’s an option for everyone.

4. Trust Market

Calling all food lovers. Located in the RSA Alabama Center of Commerce, Trust Market has many dining options to choose from. Open for breakfast and lunch, you can order from their hot buffet, pasta bar, burgers or sandwich bar. Don’t skip on their dessert options either. Check out the menu!

5. Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar

Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar was one of the most anticipated grand openings in River Region. Placed inside of Eastchase Parkway, Bad Daddy’s was an immediate hit in the community. It’s hard to miss this delicious burger joint when at Eastchase.

Build your own burger or order a signature burger like the bacon cheeseburger on steroids or the Catina black bean burger. Pair them with the parmesan truffle fries or the steakhouse onion rings. Clearly, the option are endless here. I personally recommend starting off with their fried pickles.

6. Cara’s Trattoria

In June of 2021 Cara’s Trattoria opened up on Pike Road. Since then It has brought delicious New Orleans cuisine and Italian dishes to Montgomery. Cara’s Trattoria takes pride in the family friendly atmosphere and offers a plethora of menu options. You can grab lunch or dinner on their beautiful patio. You may even have live entertainment while you’re there.

7. Coosa River Craft House

Coosa River Craft House, a community favorite, opened up a second location in Wetumpka. This is the perfect place to grab a craft beer and a laugh with friends. Since they don’t serve food ,locals typically bring whatever food they want. The definition of have it your way. Stop by the new location and try some of their draft beers and experience the popular atmosphere.

8. The Patriot’s Grill

Earlier this year Montgomery welcomed The Patriot’s Grill. The Patriot’s Grill owned and operated by New Jersey natives with an extensive culinary background. Stop by for breakfast, lunch or dinner during the week. And on Sunday’s drop in to taste their brunch. Their menu is almost endless with so many options to choose from stuffed portobello to oxtails. This menu is loaded.

10. Flatz Wingz

Eastdale Mall expanded their food options this year when Flatz Wingz held their grand opening. Wings, burgers and cheesy bacon fries. This place has it all. While you’re shopping in Eastdale be sure to stop by and visit you will be glad you did.

11. Fennel and Figs

This beautiful bakery sits right inside of Cloverdale Mall. Since opening this past year, Fennel and Figs has served fresh baked goods, homemade jams and syrups. Not to mention their selection of homemade spices. If you love supporting small businesses be sure to stop by in February of 2022 when Fennel and Figs reopens for the new year.

12. Capital City Nutrition

Dexter Avenue welcomed MGM Nutrition’s sister store this year. Capital City Nutrition is perfect spot for those looking to start off 2022 in a healthy way. Juices, smoothies or health shakes, they have exactly what you need. Allow them to help you stick to your New Years Resolution to eat healthier. I know I will.

Coming Soon—Ravello Italian Restaurant

Ravello is bringing Italian cuisine to the River Region. This new spot will offer authentic Italian food with southern ingredients. Construction is underway so be sure to follow their Instagram!
