1. $53M Science and Engineering Complex for UAB

Last week, the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) received approval for the new UAB Science and Engineering Complex, a state-of-the-art center for the university’s basic science programs. The upcoming, four-story complex will replace the aging 50-year-old Education Building, located on 14th Street South between University Boulevard and 10th Avenue South.
Once complete, the building will include 145,784 square feet of space for classrooms, research labs, faculty & office space and more. UAB is collaborating with lab and research spaces consultant Lord Aeck Sargent (LAS), architects Goodwyn, Mills & Cawood and contractor Hoar Construction LLC on the project, which they expect to be open for students in Fall 2023.
