New Birmingham amphitheater among 28 high-dollar building permits in Alabama

This past week, 28 new building permits were issued in Alabama for construction projects exceeding $1 million. Of these projects, 12 are in the Birmingham metro, while seven are in the Huntsville area.

Here’s what we know about these new building permits:

New amphitheater in Birmingham

First proposed in 2022, the Star Amphitheater is an open-air music venue addition to the BJCC campus in Birmingham’s Uptown Entertainment District.

Able to hold 9,380 attendees, the amphitheater will host around 20 shows during its summer concert season, as well as a variety of festivals, community gatherings, special events and more.

Per its contract with the BJCC, Stone Building LLC will have the amphitheater completed and ready for its first visitors by June 2025.
